Our story begins in 1905 when our founder,
Holmes Paul Tuttle, was born in Indian Territory that would eventually become the state of Oklahoma. When his father passed away in 1922, Mr. Tuttle left school to support his family, getting a job at the Ford Motor Company assembly plant in Oklahoma City.
In 1926, Mr. Tuttle left Oklahoma, hitchhiking and jumping freight trains to California, where he started working at Los Angeles-area Ford dealers in their parts departments. After learning the industry in and out, and working his way up, in 1946 he opened his own dealership: Holmes Tuttle Ford on the corner of Beverly Boulevard and La Brea.
Several other dealerships followed, in California and Arizona.

After selling a car to a young actor named Ronald Reagan, Holmes Tuttle made his way into politics. Mr. Tuttle was instrumental in Reagan's gubernatorial election and later served in President Reagan's "Kitchen Cabinet" as an adviser.

In the 1960's, Mr. Tuttle's son, Robert
(pictured right with Holmes Tuttle), and his great-nephew, Jim Click, Jr., joined his team as Salesmen. The cousins' competitive nature helped propel them both to success in the industry.
In 1973, Holmes Tuttle celebrated his 50th anniversary with Ford. He passed away in 1989 following a stroke.
Robert H. Tuttle followed in his father's footsteps not only in the automotive industry, but in the political realm as well. He served for four years as Ambassador to the Court of St. James' in the United Kingdom under President George W. Bush. He now resides in Beverly Hills and is active in the management of Tuttle-Click.

Jim Click, Jr. resides in Tucson, Arizona where he is frequently seen at his dealerships. He is very active in his
community. You may recognize his face from Tuttle-Click's television commercials and postcards.
Robert Tuttle and Jim Click, Jr. have since become co-owners of the
Tuttle-Click Automotive Group, which operates 16 dealerships and 13
makes in two states. In Arizona,
Holmes Tuttle Ford still operates under our founder's name and nine other dealerships operate under the
Jim Click Automotive Group.
